We see the prisoners with lose of hope, great disappointment, wanting to end their life, but the consoling words of Jesus which say I have come to call the sinners but not the righteous encourages, it express that Jesus` never showed any indifference to the people who committed any sort mistakes, rather he showed his love and forgave them. But thou the prisoner have not committed any offence against us also we naturally hate and don’t that easily accept them. Most of the times people do criticize them for their wrong doings and create a kind of aversion and hate them, and look down on them because of which they are mentally upset and do not be willing to be mingling with people rather they avoid them.
But we believe that every prisoner has an ardent love and desire, a right to change and lead a normal life like any other citizen. We also believe that the society too has its responsibility towards these prisoners and their families. But in reality it is found that the society is not prepared to accept the prisoner and condemns him saying, "Once a Criminal always a Criminal'. At the same time the prisoner on his own is also not equipped to face the challenges of the society. This is where Prison Ministry comes in. It takes these prisoners into its fold, inculcates in them a desire to Change, Renew and Rehabilitate their lives, provides them a vocational training in their Rehabilitation Centers and gives them back to their families and ultimately to the society. It is our firm belief that even the most hardened of criminals, or troubled youth offenders, can be touched and changed forever by the power and love of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Prison Ministry India is a National Level Voluntary Organization, under Justice and Pease Commission of the Catholic Bishops Conference of India. We collaborate with them in this ministry. Our theologians on weekends go to the prison conduct prayer service, talk to them, give them counseling, perform social awareness programs, and encourage them in such way to bring them out of their guilt feelings that they renew their life and live a good life. Please do pray for us that we guide them in the way God wants.
We receive many emails and letters from the police men who are at the care of the prisoners asking for free Christian material. We are unable to help them, since we do not have the funding in order to do this presently. Please do extend your helping hand to give them a new life.
